Western Pneumatics has designed and builds heavy duty flatback elbows for high and low pressure systems. Elbows turn the direction of the piping, they vary from 15 degrees to 90 degrees. Elbows cross-sections are rectangular, the wearback plate takes on the turning of the product and is typically an abrasion resistant plate. This sacrificial plate is easily replaceable.
A transition follows the wearback plate, the transition shape is rectangular to round, it is also built of abrasion resistant material. The wearback plate is positioned so product is discharged near the center of the round transition and downstream pipe. The entire flatback elbow is designed to get product in and out of the elbow quickly to minimize the energy required to change directions.
